5 Products for pet lovers who have lost their pet

*A special guest post by Samantha Gebhardt, Blogger at Petsies – “We create custom plush lookalikes of your real pets.”

Many people grow up with a family pet, whether it is a dog, cat, gerbil, or even a fish. So it’s safe to say that there are a lot of people who probably classify themselves as ‘pet lovers’. Pets are much more than animals that live in your home; they are family members. So when someone loses a pet, it can be extremely hard to cope with the loss. If you or someone you know has lost a pet, there are a few pet memorial ideas that may help them heal.

    1. Pet Memorial Stone

A personalized stone is a great item to memorialize your pet. These range from smaller stones that can be kept inside to larger stones that can be placed in a garden or on a patio. You can list your pet’s name, years lived, or even a special quote. This way there is a special spot in your home that is just dedicated to your pet.

    2. Shadow Box

A shadow box is just a picture frame that is deep enough to put items inside. Shadow boxes can used to remember special moments such as a wedding or graduation, and these are also a creative way to place your past pets’ items inside. You can keep items such as your pet’s collar, small toys, and some special photos inside.

    3. Pet Portrait

While people usually have dozens if not hundreds of photos of their pets, a more personalized item that they may appreciate is a drawn or painted portrait of their pet. Artists can capture all of the special details of your pet and draw or paint them onto a nice canvas for you.

    4. Keychain

A less expensive way to remember your pet is to have a keychain engraved with your pet’s name. As most of us keep our keys on us at all times, this will be a way to always have a memory of your pet with you. You can also add a small angel wing, paw print, or dog bone charm to the keychain.

    5. Custom Petsies Plush

One out-of-the-box way to memorialize your pet is to have a custom stuffed animal made in their likeness. Petsies artists will make a plushie that looks just like your pet, including markings on the fur pattern such as spots or stripes. Petsies are a great idea for anyone who still wants to hug their pet after their pet has passed on.
