Healthy Dog Healthy You 30 Day Challenge: Week 4- Final Check in

Last week done! Today is the last day of the Sarcastic Dog Healthy Dog Healthy You challenge I’ve participated in. I’m happy because in the last week of this challenge I finally reached a big personal milestone. Let me break it down for you. steps

    Week 4 – Challenges

Week four was a struggle to reach my 10,000 steps 5 days during the week however I pushed ahead and made it happen. Literally three days during the week I was so close to 10,000 steps but had to do a quick walk at home video at order to make my goal. It sounds silly, but I did it!

The other challenges I faced this week was with my food. I’m so bad! I went out to lunch with a friend and had a cheeseburger and fries! This was not part of my eat clean meal plan however I am of the mind-set not to deny myself as to avoid binge eating.

Lastly, on Saturday I completely forgot to put on my Fitbit pedometer so I have no idea how many steps I did. And I also didn’t get around to doing my stretches and planks as I know I should have. I need to continue to work on these weaknesses. I’m a work in progress.

    Week 4 – Achievements

Now the good news! At the end of this final week I reached my intended goal. I took 10,000 steps 5 days during the week! I’m really happy how far I’ve come in this challenge. I’ve gotten more active most days of the week and made an effort to find ways to get extra steps in my day. Whether that means making sure I get out of the office and walk during my day job or park at the far space in the parking lot and walk a further distance to the grocery store. I now find small ways to get more steps in.

Although I have made my goal, I want to keep going and continue to challenge myself. steps

    Goals & Final thoughts

Having reached my goal after 30 days I want to keep going. I’m thankful to have come across this challenge because it came at the perfect time.  I have a long way to go still however this was the perfect jump-start to getting my activity level up from where it was.

My future goals are to continue this momentum, increase water consumption especially with these hot summer months. Also I plan on incorporating weight training for muscle tone and lastly be more consistent in my food habits.

I’d like to focus more on weightless at this point going forward. As I mentioned before, part of healing after loss is more than just emotional, it’s taking into account the physical as well. Big goals take time and after doing this challenge I’ve learned you’ll have off days and not reach your goal however all the effort does add up.

Things worth waiting for take time, dedication and patience. I’m going to keep going and do my best and forget the rest. In the famous words of WWE wrestler John Cena, “Never give up!”
