My 7 Spring Reboot Goals to Conquer this Season

    Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Spring is officially here…well if you are going by the calendar anyway. With the new season upon us I figure it’s a good time to revamp my routine and focus on myself more. This blog is all about helping others going through the process of healing after pet loss and part of that healing involves more than just grieving.

It also means taking care of yourself; mind, body and soul. This is my Impurrfectlife which means as life has shown us, life is not fair, it’s not perfect but you get through it. We are a work in progress, not perfect but striving to do better than yesterday. So with that said, here are a few Spring goals I have in mind to get myself back on track.

    My Spring Goals

    Get Moving

With winter coming to a close, I admit I’ve been cooped up in the house far too much. I want to get moving and burn those calories. Eating right is half the battle but exercise, especially as we get older, is so important.

Getting more steps in each day is a goal of mine so I bought a Fitbit tracker to educate myself with information. My goal is to do 10,000 steps per day. So far I’ve averaged about 7,500. That’s not as bad as Ii thought however I know have a point of reference where to work from. With only 2500 steps between my goal, I know I can do it.

    Cut Carbs/Hidden Sugars

A second goal I need to work on is cutting the carbs. I have cut down on carbs like bread and cereals and rice in the past and had good results however with traumatic unexpected events that occur in recent years, I found those foods with high carb content creep back in my diet. And did I mention it is Girl Scout Cookie season??! Guilty!

So with that said, I’m making it a goal to include health carbs like oatmeal over processed carbs like breads and cookies. Also reading labels is key to kicking out the sugar in your diet. You’d be surprised how much hidden sugar is in food items like condiments, drinks and snacks.

    More leafy greens

Additionally, I need to add more leafy greens. I have been good about incorporating cooked vegetables in my food everyday however since they are cooked greens or mixed vegetables, the nutrient content and fiber is not going to be a high as eating raw green plant-based food fresh from the earth.

So my goal this Spring is to incorporate more salads as well as more green smoothies with organic wheatgrass powder.

    Increase water intake

I do drink my water every day. And yes, I’m that girl who has a water bottle by her bedside too, however it’s just not enough. I’m getting about half as much intake of water as I need. I can tell because I’m dehydrated and your body will tell you.

My goal right now is to double my water consumption, stay properly hydrated and flush the body of toxins.

    Prioritize & Organize

With the demands of work, writing, volunteering, home and everything in between it can be challenging to keep on schedule and have everything running smoothly without feeling overwhelmed. And lately that’s what I have been experiencing…Stress!

I do well under pressure and always deliver however my goal this spring is to find a way to make this process of achieving my goals more organized and in sync. As luck would have it a dear friend of mine gifted me with a lovely organizer. Call it good karma or perhaps the universe knew exactly what I needed at just the right time to help me in my journey. For that I say THANK YOU. (You know who you are) J Now I can make it a point to plan my days accordingly to keep myself accountable and keep myself on track.

Remain focused on my dreams & art

I have dreams of doing what I love to do for a living. It’s not so farfetched. Many people have been able to do so, and so can I. But that means thinking outside the box and putting in the work. Both of which I have no fear. I’d have a bigger fear of not trying and letting those aspirations fall by the wayside.

I chose to continue to inspire others from my experiences with my words and also keep creating art. Painting and doodling fulfills me in a positive way. It’s a creative outlet that not only brings me joy but a sense of peace. Ironically, this same peace it gives me puts a smile on other people’s faces. It’s a win-win for all. So I will make a continued effort to keep feeding my passion with pen to paper and paint to canvas.

    Have Gratitude

Last but not least, above all, I want to remain humble and grateful for everything I have accomplished so far and have yet to do. I’m thankful for both the negative experiences and the good ones, for it has built character and given me strength. I have learned from my bad experiences and grown as a person. I’ve accepted that death is not only the end of one chapter but the start of another. When one door closes, another one opens. And what may seem like our greatest pain, can actually turn into our greatest blessing.
