Flashback Friday- Is this my good side?
TGIF! Happy Friday. Here’s another Flashback Friday photo for you.
Survivors
I took this photo in November of 2012, just after surviving Hurricane Sandy in New York. My husband, Dusty, and I survived half the month without electricity; however, we were still thankful to have running water, working plumbing, and gas heat on the stove.
We definitely maximized daylight time. It’s incredible what you’ll find to do to entertain yourself when you have no internet! We had to revert to our old school entertainment such as board games, dice, and reading hardcover books. Remember those?
The hurricane had just passed on this particular day, and I decided to take pictures of the aftermath. While I was about to shut off my camera, Dusty decided it was playtime and hopped inside a plastic bag within a cardboard box. She paused for just a minute, and I was able to snap this picture.
She was about ten years old here. I swear this pic doesn’t do her justice. But I’m sure every pet parent says that, right?
Is this my good side, mom?
The hurricane did not phase her one bit. With her mellow personality and extra attention from Mom and Dad, she was a very happy camper. Maybe the only caveat for her involved not getting wet food more often. Despite that, she survived with us, safe and sound, surrounded by lots of love.
What more could a cat ask for, right?
