My July Art Update! Out with the old and in with the new.

    My July Art update!

We are in the thick of summer and I’m long overdue for an art update. It’s been a little while since I’ve whipped out my paint brush,  however, I did have a couple of older paintings I did a while back that I wanted to share.

And of course, I’m working on my Canva skills so I also added a few brand simple digital works as well. So with that said, let’s get into it. Here is my July art update…out with the old and in with the new.

    Out with the old…

    Rainy Days

This painting is called Rainy Days. I wanted to brush up on my painting skills and found inspiration on the web. There are plenty of similar works online however as usual I have to add my own twist. I love the darker blend of the blues and purples in the background and the bright red umbrella as a pop of color. Even when I finished this work I thought about rain but not the typical rain droplets. So I just figured “splat”! Yep! That worked better than I thought. I love the way the end product turned out. So I’ll be adding to my Redbubble shop too.

Create the life you want to live

Life is not always perfect and as you know I like to share inspirational messages every week. I think it’s important to insert positivity in your daily life. With everything going on in the world and dealing with everyday life issues, it gets challenging to stay in a positive frame of mind. With this life journey, you find that things don’t always go your way or traumatic things happen and you have to find a way to heal and move forward.

Sometimes things are beyond our control, but oftentimes we realize too late that we actually are very much in control and the author of our own story. So this is what inspired this older painting, which I later gifted to a dear friend, “Create the life you want to see”. If you don’t like the life you have then change it. Our pets love to see us happy and we should want the same for ourselves.

    Lady in Pink

    Lady in Pink

If you have been following me for a while you know I love two things. Afros in my art and cats! What can I say?! A woman’s hair is her crowning glory! I love painting work that makes me feel happy and light-hearted. I painted this ‘Lady in Pink’ after attending a Paint nite party and feeling inspired to replicate a similar feel with brighter colors and a change of dress. I love how my use of pastels ended up blending together a bit to create an array of color combinations. To me, this painted lady exudes confidence and class. And with her natural afro, she’s pretty in pink. But that’s not all.
