Sometimes you just need to take a vacation and have some fun. This is exactly what this post is about- fun and joy! Admittedly I’m very bad at this…bad at taking time off that is. I am the master of the weekend getaway but as for a vacation more than 2 nights…um I fail. But lucky with a little luck and suggestion from my husband, we took a mini
vacation to the Bahamas. Yep this was our first cruise. I must say, I likey and will do it again.
If you are like me and work a 9-5 job, deal with commuting and after work responsibilities whether it’s your kids, pets, post work activities etc.; the daily grind can get tiring and draining. Before you know it several months or a year has passed by and you are fatigued and mentally drained. This is especially true after dealing with major life events like a loss or even after dealing with medical vet visits for long period of time up until your pet made their transition. Perhaps you don’t realize it until the aftermath is over, but it’s
physically and mentally exhausting. Sometimes you need a reboot.
Which brings me back to the point of this post. As you well know by now it’s been well over a year since my cat Dusty passed and although some time has passed I never really took adequate time out for myself more than a 2 night weekend getaway. So by the time the opportunity came where I could take a vacation I was fully on board. By the time our vacation started I just finished getting over a cold. I swear sometimes I think your body tells you when it’s time to slow down and rest.
And that’s exactly what I planned to do. My husband and I took a 4 day 3 night cruise to the Bahamas leaving from Miami, FL on the Carnival
Fantasy. It was hot, sunny, and beautiful. Just what the doctor ordered. Since it was our first time, I must admit, I was trying to do the most regarding activities to get the full experience but by the last evening we were out like a light.
Taking this trip reminded me the importance of taking time out for yourself, appreciating the blessings and opportunities in this big vast world and reminds you how lucky and fortunate you are to experience new adventures. To sum up, we left from Miami, FL and cruised to Nassau, Bahamas. We took an excursion to the downtown area, Zoo and also visited Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. We returned and enjoyed some of the activities on board like the casino slots, Bingo, comedy shows, shopping, raffle, gym, mini golf and of course the buffet.
So if you’ve thought about taking a cruise or taking a vacation, definitely make it a priority to do it. Do it now while you are fully bodied and able to get around. That way you don’t have regrets later. As I’ve said before in a previous post, this life is not a dress rehearsal. Take time to find fun things to do and find joy in life. As for myself, my only regret is wishing I could have stayed longer!
