Foster update: New Year and New Beginnings
2019 is in full effect and I’m back from taking a little hiatus! Did you miss me? Well I missed you but needed a break to practice some self-care and unplug! Now back to business! I have good news and good news on the fostering front!
Stubby gets his happy ending!
First piece of good news involves my foster buddy Stubby. If you follow my Instagram you already know that before Christmas Stubby was adopted at the Mega Pet Holiday Adoption event at the Meadowlands in New Jersey! If you missed my blog post about that event you can check it out here.
Less than one day into the adoption event weekend, I received word that Stubby found his forever home. Stubby is now a Manhattan boy and is living in the Big Apple. He’s been welcomed into a loving home with his forever mom and has a new sibling too! He’s taken time to adjust but is doing great. Here is a picture of Stubby in his forever home.

Look at that confidence! I could not be more proud of my boy! I’m one proud foster mom!
Next up….
Meet Riley!
I never got the chance to write a post about Riley since I took in Riley for a very brief nano second and had to return him to the animal clinic. Here is Riley in case you missed it.
Riley was an adorable polydactyl kitten! I mean who doesn’t love kittens! His first night home he was very quiet and shy however he didn’t mind being held and cuddled. I can tell that he’ll grow up to be a heartbreaker with his devastatingly good looks and fluffiness. I mean look at that face!

So why did I have to return Riley? Unfortunately, because of miscommunication, he was sent home with me mid-treatment for ring worm, so I had to return him to finish his regimen. I fully anticipated getting him back at home to continue my foster journey with Riley but got word he was adopted! Yes! It was another foster success story!
What I’ve learned so far…
Now there are currently no paws at home as I’m waiting for my next new foster cat, however I’m sure I won’t be waiting long as Spring will be around the corner before we know it. Kitten season is no joke!
I’m really enjoying discovering the world of fostering and how I can help be part of the process of saving lives and loving lives at the same time. Being a foster mom, not only fulfills my purpose to inspire and change animal’s lives but I think it helps me be a better human being and inspire others to consider the same. Volunteering and fostering has helped me find healing in more ways than I saw possible, and that makes me very optimistic about what the future holds.

So much great news for these kitties! Fostering is a wonderful, not to mention life saving thing to do. Not only does it help shelters and rescues take in more homeless animals, it feels so darn good for the soul.

How lucky to have spent time with both of those adorable kitties! Fostering much be so much for your heart, thanks for doing your part to help adoptable pets. I hope to give it a go when I have my own backyard.

So wonderful for these beautiful kitties! Fostering is so rewarding and takes so much heart and selfless love to help the little critters to find their forever homes! We’ve been fostering for a while and love doing so for the oldies!

Congratulations on being such a fantastic foster Mom and they were so lucky to have you as part of their lives and many more will benefit in the future

I love that you are fostering and you’ve had a few success stories as well! I confess that I wish I could foster but am too weak to do so. I would be a foster fail many times over. That being said, I believe in adopting all my pets and will continue to do so.

I’m glad you love fostering. I couldn’t do because I’d end up a hoarder and have 100 cats lol. But I’m so grateful for Mary, Bonnie and Jess who were foster parents to some of my critters. Mary managed Treeno’s rehab from extensive surgery and hung on to him for three years. But was still willing to let me taking him home 12 hours away. Bonnie takes in extreme cases for my favorite rescue, and she took in a starving black Persian and got him back on his paws. He’s my headliner cat now – Plush the Traveling Persian. Jess had Musette as a pregnant mom and took care of her and her litter, including Matisse. She chose me for them. You are doing a great service for the cats and their eventual family.

Ruth,
Thank you so much!

Heather,
Thanks! Trust! I have that fear too with each foster. I had to get over that fear and trust that if it’s meant to be it will happen organically. Still miss my Dusty! I swear she was my soulmate cat.

You have the magic paw touch when it comes to fosters. I know I love fostering and giving them back is tough BUT it means to get to help another cat find a new home.
I look forward to your 2019 adventures in foster land wooHOOOO

Congratulations on the adoptions of your fosters. I’m glad there are people like you who are willing to open their homes to animals who need the support before going to their forever home.
