11 Lazy Self-Care Tips You Can Do at Home Without Breaking a Sweat

If you’re looking for simple ways to keep yourself in a happy place mentally and physically, you might have everything that you need right inside your home.

We often think we need to go outside and explore to find peace and happiness. This does not always hold true for everyone.

You may be more introverted or have recently suffered an event that limits your mobility or desire to leave the house.  You have many ways to increase your happiness right in your own home.

Keep reading because this post is for you if you are looking for easy ways to boost your self-care without breaking a sweat.

Here are 11 lazy self-care tips you can do right now.

11 Self-Care Tips You Can Do at Home

    1. Read a good book.

When you find a book that has you hooked from the very first page, you know that it’s an excellent read. A good book can transform your thoughts into another world. If you need a recommendation, check out my book review of Your Pet, Your Pill by Dr. Margit Muller. It’s an excellent read for any animal lover.

Choose a subject you love or explore something new. Allow yourself to get caught up in the words and discover a world you never knew existed.

    2. Play a game.

Card games and board games are simply the best. Neither option takes much effort, and it’s always fun to challenge yourself or someone else inside your home to a good old game of Monopoly or Connect Four.

Allow yourself to have fun during the game. Avoid turning it into something overly competitive, as it can cause tempers and tensions to flare. The intention is to be entertained and have fun.

    3. Start a fun hobby.

There’s nothing like a new hobby to stimulate your brain, relax you, and show the world and yourself how much you matter. Find a hobby that looks fun to you and dive in.

The time you spend on this hobby is all the time you’re taking just for you! Affirm how valuable you are by enjoying a new hobby!

    4. Binge on your favorite show

Sometimes we all need to turn off our brains and turn on the TV. Settle in for a day of watching TV, movies, or just trying to learn the latest dance moves.

The easiest way to achieve self-care and make it happen is to do some of the things you love. You can easily see that with just a little bit of effort, your time at home can positively impact your day.

    5. Bake some goodies.

Do you consider yourself to be a foodie? Why not put your tummy front and center and spend a day baking up some of your favorite treats? The best part? You’ll get to enjoy the food!

Having a well-balanced diet is essential for your overall mental, as well as physical, health. Remember, keep yourself hydrated. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Let food be thy medicine, and remember health is wealth.

    6. Give yourself a Spa Day

Try out those bath bombs you got in your Christmas stocking last year. Take a nice bubble bath and soak. You can light a few tealight candles in the bathroom or play some music. Relax and destress.

    7. Dream and plan a future vacation.

Plan a future dream vacation you want to take. Map out your trip and use a vision board to spark your ideas. You can use a traditional corkboard or Canva to create a desktop image for your laptop.

For example, you can see how I created my own digital vision board this year using Canva in my recent blog post here.

    8. Take a nap

Of all the lazy self-care tips you have learned about thus far, taking a nap is one everyone can do easily. Rest and catch up on those missing hours of sleep you miss out on during the workweek.

We often underestimate the importance of sleep. It’s essential to let the body rest, recover, and replenish itself. Getting proper rest is one of the easiest ways to practice self-care.

    9. Create a book of memories.

Those of us that have lost a loved one, a pet, or have just been procrastinating on getting those old photos in order, try creating a collage. You can create a scrapbook of memories.

Creating your own scrapbook is also a clever way to express your creativity. You can personalize your creation by adding embellishments and details, such as rhinestones or ribbons.

    10. Learn something new.

Is there a skill or a topic you’ve always been curious to explore? Are you one that enjoys learning new things?

Take time to park yourself on the sofa and listen to a motivational podcast on Spotify.

If you prefer learning by watching, explore online courses on Udemy. You can find a wide array of subjects to study.

    11. Be still. Do nothing.

As hectic as life can be, sometimes the best thing you can do is do nothing at all. Take time to be, breathe in silence and solitude. There is nothing wrong with doing nothing and taking a breather. Chances are you need it.
