One of the most influential leaders during the civil rights movement in Black history in America was Malcolm X. He was an activist and advocate for the Black National Movement, which focused on race [African] pride, self-defense, social and economic empowerment within the Black community. He was a prominent figure and speaker in the Nation of Islam for years but eventually left. After he was assassinated, his life story and legacy lived on to influence millions around the world.
