Monday Inspiration #45 – Find yourself in service of others.
This quote really resonated with me because it reminded me of the start of my journey to finding healing after losing Dusty to cancer. I was devastated but also understood that I could not wallow in my own sadness for long. I knew I had to make a conscious effort to find ways to think positive and reclaim some joy in my life.
It was at this time in my life that I rediscovered the joy of volunteering. Volunteering is a great way to be of service to others. Although there is usually much work involved, it is so rewarding and fulfilling. The icing on the cake is when you can volunteer with an organization that feeds your passion.
Getting the opportunity to volunteer for such places like Kitty Kind and People for Animals helped feed my passion for helping cats. A small gesture like being of service to others helped to heal my heart again. And I also build new relationships and friendships along the way. For that I am so grateful. You never know how helping to change the lives of others can actually change your life for the better.
