Monday Inspiration #43
There is a saying that the greatest things in life are free. I believe so. Love, freedom, good health and the ability to make our own choices are all things often taken for granted. With all these things one trait that is so admirable is gratitude. Having the ability to be humble and have gratitude, especially when facing adversity or bad times is a true test of faith and character. What do I mean?
For example, look at my life. When my sweet Dusty was battling cancer, I prayed for her to heal but I also prayed and thanked the good Lord with gratitude in my heart for having my time with her. I didn’t know how much time I had left but was grateful for everyday. Luckily, I was blessed to have her in my life longer than doctors anticipated but still eventually she earned her angel wings.
Despite this pain and grief in my life, I’m still grateful. I wouldn’t trade my time, the joy and memories for anything. All the shared milestones from cross-country moves, to marriage, to surviving hurricanes; it was all worth it. And most important of all, the unconditional love, laughs and joy shared will remain in my heart forever. I’m grateful to have been Dusty’s mom and so lucky she chose me to be part of her life.
Fast forward to present day, and I’m blogging to help other bereaved pet parents through sharing my own experiences, inspiration and art to help heal hearts. For all these things I’m grateful.
I say this to say, if we are able to find gratitude in our deepest darkest moments, we can manage to be thankful everyday of our lives. Remember, there is always someone else in the world who has it much worse than you do. Find something to be grateful for each and everyday, for this is the key to greatness!
