I love how you mentioned that one should make sure they take their pet to the veterinarian on an annual basis, as it can help prevent illness in your pet. I recently adopted two birds, so I’ve been wondering how to make sure they stay nice and healthy. These tips will really help me keep my new friends healthy, so thank you for sharing them.
Taylor,
You are welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Thanks for sharing your input.
This is a great infographic! You have including everything that pet owners need to know for caring for pets. This would be a great post to share with a new owner.
Thanks Katie! Yes, definitely share!
You’ve hit all the top tips for pet care/health in one infograhic! I’m happy to see you rounded it up with “Love” 🙂
Thank you Kelly!
This is a great infographic-even the things we already know sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of them. Pet proofing is something I have trouble getting my husband to do!
Lorie,
Thank you! Oh I understand. It’s always harder to get our other half to do what needs to be done at times. Hmm…will bribery work? LOL
This is a fantastic infographic with so many great tips all in one place. There are many things on here that even long time pet parents don’t have in place. I’m going to share this with my friends and clients.
Thank you Christine!
What a great infographic! I’ve pinned it and I nodded “yes” as I read your list! Life is always better when we’re prepared and helping our furry family members have the best life possible
Thank you for the pin and kind words!
We do all those things! Mr. N occasionally does go off-leash but I watch him like a hawk and I pick places carefully. We also work on his recall a lot.
Nice! Yes, keep an eye on him as you are doing. I’m sure he ‘s confident however others may take advantage due to his size. Mr. N is pretty good though and a very special dog- well trained. 😉
These are great reminders to make sure our pets are well cared for! I don’t have pet insurance, and it is confusing about which one is the best choice. I know several people who thought they would be covered only to find out that they weren’t. I’d love to read a comprehensive post on the different pet insurance options with pros and cons that are easy to decipher.
Beth,
Great point. You may want to check out this post I wrote previously on the pet insurance topic. https://impurrfectlife.com/pet-insurance-worth-it/
You always have great topics for posts. Thanks for a great infographic that I will definitely pin!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed!
I like the keep a dog on a lead thing. I am really frustrated by dogs wandering loose and unsupervised (even if it IS illegal here in NZ). You could also add ‘Not everyone likes to hear your dog barking all the time’. Locally a lady had her dog taken away as it was deemed a nuisance!
As for feeding. To be honest, I feel people feed the best they can 9 times out of 10. Premium brands are all well and good but for those on a budget it may be ‘what you can afford’ much as they would love to buy top quality. This points the focus squarely at the cat food manufacturers. Harvey’s renal would be cripplingly expensive if we didn’t have an income coming in. This kind of thing is critical for people to remember when they get on their soapboxes about cat food and what’s good for a cat. Would you rather a cat was dearly loved and fed on Meowmix or a cat languishing unloved at a shelter.
Marjorie,
Well said! I believe you about the dog barking. I’ve personally never had the issue however have friends and old coworkers (who owned dogs themselves) say that their neighbors dogs would keep the neighborhood up all night. I can also empathize with your situation and the history of how you cat passed too so untimely. 🙁 I absolutely agree about the food. I guess I should have added “the best food you can AFFORD”. I agree, giving your pet premium food without premium love and care doesn’t equate to much , when on the flip side you can give them good food and premium love and care! I can say from experience myself. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!:)
I love this list! Great infographic too! It’s totally worth printing out ! I do want to get pet insurance. Another tip I would like to add if it is okay is to have a pet emergency kit for bad weather, fire, etc.
Thank you for the useful information here!
Joely,
Thank you and Yes! I absolutely welcome the input. That’s exactly why I ask. I’m sure there would be things I would have overlooked. Emergency kit is a fantastic idea! Thanks for your insight.
Love the infographic, such an easy and effective way to get the message across. Fantastic tips, and I especially enjoyed your tip about volunteering in a shelter!
Hindy,
Thank you so much!
So so so true and thank goodness I checked your list and said phew all is good. I also have for Layla is a plan if something happens to me, I have 3 friends with keys to my place plus documents with all information so I know she will be safe.
Ruth,
I like the sound of that…a backup for your backup! Layla is definitely in good hands with her mama. 🙂
