Monday Inspiration #63 : Giving gives you life.

“You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give.” – Winston Churchill This quote really resonated with me especially since becoming a foster mom. You’ve followed my journey to finding joy again after loss and I can tell you that it’s a long road. However, there are brighter days after loss and challenges.

If you have been a follower of my blog you know my path to healing involved activities like painting, traveling, volunteering and recently fostering. My house never felt so good until paws returned to the place. For us, having paws in the house helps make it a home.

Giving is fulfilling.

To share your life with another being, human or otherwise really brings joy. There is another saying that life is best shared with another. I think it’s true. When you have joy and happiness you want to share that feeling and experiences with your friends and loved ones, including the furry kind.

So yes, you can have a well paying job or career and make a lot of money, but at the end of the day do you get to spend time laughing and making memories with your dollar bills or will the moments you remember include sharing experiences with those you love and have given a part of yourself?

I have found that the most fulfilling memories I can recall involve me giving of myself to help others in need. Whether it is spending time with a friend over dinner or giving my time to help animals in need, I found the most joy when I was able to give of myself. Giving of yourself can take many forms. You can give of your time, provide a listening ear, check in on a friend or send a meaningful card from the heart. As long as the intent is giving with authenticity without expectation, that unexpected joy someone else receives because of your kindness, is oh so rewarding.

Giving brings life. Fostering senior cats and kittens has done that for me. It brings me tremendous joy to know that welcoming a foster into my home has transformed their life for the better!
