The year is almost over; naturally, this time of year is a time for reflection. With that in mind, I looked at my analytics and saw that the top ten posts for the year also happen to be grief-related. I’ve talked about my healing journey post-pet loss but also included positive, constructive ways to help others and be entertained along the way, including sharing art updates, recipes, and book reviews.
With your input over the past few weeks, I’ve gotten some great feedback to continue blogging about pet-related content and also continue to expand my horizons by using more videos and offering digital products you can use.
So in the coming year, be on the lookout for changes to the blog. I hope you’ll continue this journey with me!
So, let me get right down to business and share my top ten pet loss blog posts for 2020! These posts are my most viewed blog posts over the past eleven months. Nine are grief and pet loss support related and one post includes an infographic with tips to prevent animal cruelty.
If you missed one of my posts over the past several months, be sure to heat up a cup of tea, relax and take a break so you can read some of my most popular content that resonated with readers this year.

I have to admit, I have kind of a hard time reading pet death related posts (at least without tearing up lol) these days now that one of my beloved dogs is a senior. I try, as much as I can, not to think too much about losing him while he’s still here with me. I’m sure the posts you shared will resonate with, and help, many grieving pet owners. Thank you for sharing your story.

Michelle,
I totally understand. Grief and healing aren’t happy topics but necessary ones. I’d like to think my perspective and view is not so grim but rather taking one on a journey to better places and positive energy. Thanks for sharing your input!

Such a sad topic I do my best to avoid. When I lost Jasmine, I was devastated until I found a way to stay connected and do things that would be her legacy.
I also do my best to ignore the day of her passing but remember and celebrate her life instead.

Jana,
I totally understand. Celebrating Jasmine’s life is exactly what she’d want you to do. 🙂

These are all such important topics to discuss. We often shy away from talking about emotional or difficult topics like that of loss and grief. However, the reality is that we will all have to face this at one time or another if we are inviting pets into our lives. I try not to think about the fact that our pets are all getting up there in years. It’s too hard to think about saying goodbye.

Britt,
Well said! It is hard to discuss but having resources and tools to help one cope is needed. Thanks for your input!

They are all such important topics and something to think about. I do relate to some of them and thank you for speaking out also about animal cruelty. Merry Christmas

Ruth,
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and Layla too!

I struggle still after losing Harvey then (suddenly) Dot Kitten. Posts like yours keep me going through tough times.
I hope you and your family keep well over Christmas. The blogging community is so amazing and gifted with so much insight.

A family member had to euthanize one of her dogs this year and it was so sad. I always refer people who are agonizing about euthanasia or grieving for a pet to your site.
Your post about knowing the signs of when it is time to euthanize a pet was helpful. She managed to give her dog as much time as possible, without letting her suffer.

Beth,
I appreciate that so much spreading the word about my blog. I definitely aim to help pet parents validate their feelings and provide tools, resources and shared stories so they know they are not alone…I’ve been there too. So sorry to hear about your family member’s dog. 🙁 Sounds like she/he had a very caring loving mum.

I wish I had these posts when I had to euthanize my previous cat 9 years ago.

I know exactly what you mean! One of the things that I’ve learned in my blogging journey is how much this type of content is needed but not as vast as other niches.
